《白雪公主(英文版)》_读书笔记100字
Admittedly,Grimms Fairy Tales is both classic and well-known at the same time.Nevertheless, well, maybe being classic and famous doesnt mean being pleasant.
I loved the stories of Grimms when I was a child,I thought then they were so interesting and imaginative. But not until I read it in English.
During my reading this time,Im totally astonished by the illegitimacy, injustice and malice it contains.
OK,I can accept that magic or something of that sort is necessary in fairy tales, like magic wand that can turn one thing into another or water of life which can make a critically ill person recover health. But that doesnt mean that I endorse those with absolute power.
You see,I can live with the fact that some people in the world do enjoy more privilege and freedom than others, after all thats where the very conception of class begins.Yet I do not believe the very existence of extreme power or that its beneficial for humankind to live with somenthing like that.
As far as I am concerned,I always hold the opinion that totalitarian does more harm than good.It suppresses the freedom, leads to corruption, hinders all improvements. Most important of all, dictatorship brings endless sorrow.
Besides,a man owning things with categotical ability is anything but a hero, even if he accomplishes something extraodinary.
Moreover, the very definition of right and wrong shown in this book is puzzling enough. It seems that whoever with incredible things is right for sure and whoever against him is supposed to die. This view can I never accept.
Thirdly, this book also exhibits a prejudice against Jews, which is totally comprehensible when taking the time of Grimms into consideration.
All in all,I do not agree that these fairy tales are appropriate for children.
