酶和蛋白质的研究：利用基因操作和化学合成等手段探讨酶的催化机理及其功能。

非天然胺基酸的研究：利用化学与生物学相结合的方法，探讨非天然胺基酸在生物体内的功能及与相关疾病的关係。

特异性生物催化的研究：研究适用于手性药物製备的多酶偶联生物催化体系。

靶向药物设计和构效关係的研究：在抗肿瘤、抗风湿性关节炎和抗耐药菌方面，对分子靶向药物进行分子设计及系统的构效关係和成药性研究。

目前承担项目

1. 教育部、国家外国专家局高等学校学科创新引智计画项目（“111”计画）负责人：药物生物合成和生物转化的创新引智基地（2008年－2012年，No. 111-2-07）。
