故事围绕一个名叫“阿尔卑斯”的另类公司展开，由医生、护士、体操选手及其教练四人组成，他们接受来自不同死者亲人、朋友、同事的委託，为了抒解人们失去所爱的悲怆，专业地扮演往生者的替身。电影以酷奇前卫的手法塑造出一个另类荒诞的世界，将黑色幽默的喜剧元素及悽美阴郁的剧情，交织建构出憾动人心的情感气势。
