惠特尼·休斯顿1963年8月9日出生于美国新泽西的一个流行音乐世家，母亲茜茜·休斯顿是福音女歌手，表姐也是着名歌星。1985年2月，惠特尼在纽约“甜水夜总会”初次亮相，就被在场的娱乐圈巨头认为是流行乐坛的未来巨星。不久，惠特尼出版了第一张个人专辑《惠特尼·休斯顿》，引起乐坛轰动效应，全球销量达2200万张，其精美的MV也大放异彩，打破了欧美乐坛长期存在的“肤色障碍”。 美国时间2012年2月11日下午3点55分在比弗利希尔顿酒店被宣布死亡，全球各地都在缅怀这位流行天后。
