纽卡斯尔大学（Newcastle University），简称纽大，是位于英国英格兰东北部的世界一流研究型大学，英国着名公立大学。纽大是英国着名的常春藤联盟罗素大学集团，N8大学联盟的成员，英国老牌名校之一，拥有英国顶尖的医学院，同时该校在科学、工程、法学及人文社科等方面皆相当出色，此外，也是英国拥有最多欧盟研究档案的大学之一。纽卡斯尔大学目前除了英国泰恩河畔纽卡斯尔本校区外，在亚洲的马来西亚以及新加坡分别设立了马来西亚校区和新加坡校区教授部分专业领域课程。

该校创建于1834年，是英国历史最悠久的大学之一，创建之初名为「医学与外科学院」(School of Medicine and Surgery)，随后成为分裂改制前的杜伦大学的另一半部的学院，在1963年根据国会法案(Act of Parliament)与杜伦大学分别成立各自独立的学校，正式全名为「泰恩河畔纽卡斯尔大学」(University of Newcastle upon Tyne)。

2014年12月18日，在英国唯一由官方每7年发布一次的REF英国大学科研实力（原RAE）排名中，纽卡斯尔大学居全英第16位；在2018年泰晤士高等教育世界大学排名位居全英第26位；在2019年QS世界大学排名上位居英国第22位，世界第141位；在2018年USnews世界大学排名居第187位；在2017英国政府教学卓越框架质量榜单中，成为TEF金奖大学；在最新2018及2019QS世界大学排名中，纽卡斯尔大学获得5+星级评分，全英仅有两所大学获此殊荣。

学校特色

纽卡斯尔大学提供高素质本科及硕士学位课程。大学下设8个学院：农业与生物科学学院、艺术学院、教育学院、工程学院、法学院、环境与社会学院、医学院和理学院。共开设了200多种本科学位课程和130种授课研究生课程，所有的院系都开设有硕士或博士研究课程。截止2015年有20,000名全日制学生就读于该校，其中3000多名学生来自英国以外的100多个国家，校园里有浓厚的国际学术交流气氛。

大学宿舍及学生宿舍可容纳学生5000名，海外留学生想入住，一般都可获得分配。学校附近有很多私人房屋出租，房租比市价低，学生如需要可向学校索取名单。校园附近有多家诊所（其中一家设在校园内）。学生辅导中心及国际留学生办事处的职员对解决海外学生所遇到的困难有丰富经验，并且组织周末迎新活动帮助学生儘快适应英国的生活。大学设有完善的体育设施，包括一个18洞的高尔夫球场。
纽卡斯尔大学也是英国公主尤金妮（Princess Eugenie）曾就读的大学。尤金妮公主于2009年9月入读纽卡斯尔大学，刚刚年满19岁的尤金妮在英国中学高级水平考试（A-Levels)三门科目中取得了两门优秀、一门良好（AAB）的优异成绩，她也是迄今为止获得最佳A-level成绩的英国王室成员。作为英国王室的一员，尤金妮公主离开条件优越的王宫，住在一周96英镑的学生宿舍内，过上“平民”生活。但尤金妮公主并不是第一位入住学生宿舍的王室成员，她的哥哥威廉王子在圣安德鲁斯大学学习时，也曾在学校宿舍度过他的第一年大学生涯。

学校历史

纽卡斯尔大学的历史可以追溯到1834年由纽卡斯尔城成立的医学院，提供当时在学的26名学生演讲以及手术实验课程。在1851年六月，该校分裂为两所敌对的学院。主要的学院成立了纽卡斯尔医学院(Newcastle College of Medicine)，而另一个学院则成立为泰恩河畔纽卡斯尔医学与实用科学学院(Newcastle upon Tyne College of Medicine and Practical Science)。

在1852年，纽卡斯尔医学院正式与杜伦大学结合，并在1856年授颁布第一个“医学证照”(Licence in Medicine' (Lic.Med))，该校教授的证书受伦敦大学认可。两所学院后来在1857年合併，并且在1870年重新命名为杜伦医学院(Durham College of Medicine)。

英国纽卡斯尔大学位于泰恩河下游北岸的纽卡斯尔市市中心，东距北海13公里，是泰恩威尔郡的首府。该城建于中世纪（1080年），当时的名字叫做 Pons Aelius，是由罗马帝国哈德里安皇帝修建的。至今仍能在纽卡斯尔部分地区看到这些旧时的城墙，尤其是沿西路（West Road）一带。该市是英格兰20世纪最受欢迎的城市之一。纽卡斯尔人口30万。面积112平方公里。十六世纪以后为英国主要的煤港。1882年正式建市。

公车

校园设施

纽卡斯尔大学校园内有注册和获準的就餐场所提供服务，包括Uni cafe、The time out food court、The stop gap shop和公共休息室。
