内容简介

欲知世界各地之真相，可取此书读之。君等将在其中得见所志大亚美尼亚（Grande Arm6nie）、波斯（Perse）、鞑靼（Tartarie）、印度（Inde）及其他不少州区之奇蹟，且其叙述秩序井然，明了易解：凡此诸事，皆是威尼斯贤而贵的市民马可·波罗君所目睹者，问有非彼目睹者，则闻之于确实可信之人。所以吾人之所徵引，所见者着明所见，所闻者着明所闻，庶使本书确实，毫无虚伪。有聆是书或读是书者，应信其真。盖书中所记皆实，缘自上帝创造吾人始祖亚当（Adam）以来，历代之人探知世界各地及其奇蹟者，无有如马可·波罗君所知之广也。故彼以为，若不将其实在见闻之事笔之于书，使他人未尝闻见者获知之，其事诚为不幸。余更有言者，凡此诸事，皆彼居留各国垂二十六年之见闻。迨其禁锢于热那亚（G4nes）狱中之时，乃求其同狱者皮撒（Pise）城人鲁思梯谦（Rusticien）诠次之，时在基督降生后之1298年云。

作者简介

马可・皮罗是13世纪杰出的旅行家。在世界史上，他是第一个游历中国及其他亚洲国家且留下一部重要着作――《马可・波罗游记》的欧洲人。马可・波罗（1254―1324年）出生在义大利“水城”威尼斯，家庭经商。17岁时，年轻的马可・波罗跟随父亲可罗・马可和叔父马飞阿沿着“丝绸之路”来到中国，他们穿越叙利亚、两河流域、伊朗全境，横跨中亚的沙漠地带，翻过帕米尔高原，经过喀什、于田、罗布泊、玉门。历时三年半，不畏艰辛，终于来到他们梦想中神秘的东方古国。
